About Brook and Nicola
Acupuncture East is the collective vision of Acupuncturists Brook Canning and Nicola Marishel, who completed their Chinese Medicine studies in Sydney followed by internships in various hospitals throughout China.
With over fifteen years of practical experience, Brook and Nicola treat a wide range of people, and have a passion for women’s health. Nicola is also a trained Doula for birth and labour support. Working closely together, patients benefit from their combined knowledge, experience and mutual determination to positively impact the lives of those they treat.
Brook Canning
Brook Canning has been practicing Acupuncture since 1999. Her experience as a practitioner and her caring, unassuming nature underpin her commitment to her patients well being and their positive experience of Traditional Chinese Medicine.
Brook completed her university degree for Acupuncture in Sydney. She then continued her studies in China –at the Guangzhou University of Traditional Chinese Medicine integrated hospital; completing an Advanced Diploma in TCM. A post graduate certificate in Chinese Herbal Medicine was completed in 2000.
Brook has been practicing Acupuncture at successful clinics in both London and Sydney for the past eighteen years gaining a strong clinical background in all areas of Acupuncture. Brook is passionate about womens health and has had extensive experience in treating the symptoms of stress, anxiety and pain.
Brook is a fully accredited member of the Australian Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine Association (AACMA), the peak professional body for practitioners of TCM. Brook is also registered with the Chinese Medicine Board of Australia, registration no. CMR0001708225.
Nicola Marishel
Nicola Marishel is a qualified Acupuncturist and Chinese Herbalist and has been in clinical practice in Sydney for eighteen years. Nicola holds a Diploma in Traditional Chinese Medicine, and has completed several internships at the Zhejiang Provincial Hospital in Hang Zhou, China.
Nicola has a special interest in fertility and pregnancy, and the use of acupuncture and herbal medicine to support the IVF processes. She is a trained Doula for labour and birth support and has done extensive study in pre natal education.
Nicola has also had a lot of success treating the symptoms of stress and chronic pain related to depression by managing the underlying chronic pain.
With an in depth understanding of the complex body changes and bio-rhythms that make up the body’s system, and the benefits that acupuncture can offer, Nicola is committed to ensuring that her acupuncture sessions are a positive experience for everyone she treats.
